What to Expect When You Visit

Visiting a church for the first time may feel a little intimidating if you’re unsure of what to expect. Here’s a peek:

  • Worship begins at 10:00 a.m.; Sunday School for ages 3 to elementary school begins at 9:45 a.m. Nursery care is available but children are  always welcome in worship, no matter the age. (Sunday School is not held on the first Sunday of each month when Family Worship is held but children are especially encouraged to attend and participate).
  • Enter the driveway on Hidden Meadow Drive and park anywhere.
  • Our main doors face Fairfax County Parkway. Upon entering, an usher will greet you and give you a full-text bulletin with everything you need.
  • Following Sunday School, children join their families in worship to share in the Lord’s Supper. Epiphany provides a Parent Room, a glassed-in corner of the worship space where you may choose to visit with your children and still be able to hear and see. Again, we love and encourage children in worship.
  • While a full text bulletin is provided, our celebration of the Holy Eucharist (blessed thanksgiving) comes from The Book of Common Prayer and comprises both the Word of God and The Great Thanksgiving, also known as The Lord’s Supper. We believe our worship is a celebration of praise and thanksgiving to a God who in creation, made us known, blesses us and loves us.

Following service, we gather in the Fellowship Hall (space outside the sanctuary) to enjoy each other's company and meet new friends over refreshments provided by members. You are encouraged to join.  We are quite aware that there's the extroverts out there who will dive right in... then there is the shy extroverts or the introverts who might feel a little overhwhelmed.  Please consider identifying yourself as new to the Vestry Person of the Day (announced during the service) or an usher so that they may show you around as well as introduce you, staying by your side for as little or as much as you like.
